Stage 18 - Kym Fants Hair

Stage 18 was super long, 143 miles and pretty boring.  So, I’d like to take a moment to thank Kym Fant’s Hair for being a part of this crazy adventure!  Over the past few weeks we’ve created a mascot or rather a team representative out of KFH.  When it is looking kind of haggard (which it rarely does even after riding in the rain for 8 hours) we know the team has had a hard day.  We check which direction the wind is blowing by watching KFH.  It really has been a key to keeping us happy and laughing because all we have to do is mention something about KFH to beak out the smiles.

OK, let’s say something about Kym, the owner of Kym Fant’s Hair, as well.  She, like her hair, is the one to keep everyone smiling.  She took on the role as team therapist and listened quietly while we all had our moments of bitching.  Kym is the sunniest, happiest person I’ve met and her laugh can be heard from across the peloton.  Seriously.  When you don’t know where she is in a big group of people, just listen for her laugh and you’ll know immediately.

Kym also has a love of wine.  She come’s from Santa Rosa, the center of wine country in Northern California.  She knows good wine.  And she appreciates it as well.  We’ve been doing a great job of keeping up with the local wine and beer here in France and I can count on Kym to always be on board.

We’ve had some amazing times out here and even in these last few days, we’ve found ourselves laughing so hard going up a climb that we have to stop to breath because our legs aren’t getting any oxygen.  Yes, we have the giggles that bad.

We were also so fortunate to have Kym’s family out here for the second week of the Tour.  Her husband Glen was a savior in helping us with our bikes and getting them all working in tip top shape.  Her mom went grocery shopping and bought supplies to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!  Amazing!  And we all go to see her son, Axel, again.  Axel is a special kid.  He is quite possibly the cutest kid I’ve ever met in my life.  When he smiles and laughs, you can’t help but fall in love with this little guy.  It was so refreshing to have friendly familiar faces mid-way through the Tour and definitely gave us a boost of moral and energy to keep with it and keep fighting.

We’re all very excited to get to Paris and go out for some fun.  We know that all we have to do is put Kym in her hot white pants and let her hair go to work.  Watch out Paris, Kym Fant’s Hair is loose on the streets!
