One of my favorite companies in the sport of triathlon, the sport of cycling, and I guess really the sport of life, is taking part in this cool fundraising event called Indiegogo. Breeze Bars, the best energy bar out there for us endurance junkies, is looking to expand their brand and introduce several new flavors this fall. They're hosting a fundraiser where you can get cool swag like t-shirts, stickers, hoodies, and other cool stuff by pledging your support for this local small business.
I'm pumped to show my support to a company who has supported me from the beginning and I encourage you to at least give Breeze Bars a try (sold in many Whole Foods stores and coffee shops but online as well). These are the bars that got me through riding the entire Tour de France. Literally. Every day, when we had ridden about 100 miles and we still had 20 to 50 miles left, I would eat a Breeze Bars and it allowed me to crush those final hours on the bike. every.single.day.
The new flavors they are trying to launch are AMAZING! Trust me, you want them.
So here are some quick reasons why Breeze Bars are worth it:
- High quality ingredient - no fillers here!
- Crispy texture - I hate smushed together energy bars that look and taste like crap (literally)
- Quick and Sustainable Energy - No sugar spike and crash
- Great tasting - Duh
- Gluten and Dairy Free - And yes, they still taste awesome!
With all the political debates going on right now, here's your chance to make a difference for a small business. No tax cuts, no jobs being sent to other countries, no CNN arguments about how to best help our economy. Nope, this is hands on, supporting small business growth, no matter what side of the isle you sit.
Also, if you're interested, here's a little story about how Breeze Bars came to be.... fade in...
A Little History on Breeze Bars Beginnings:
The idea for Breeze Bars came about one Saturday afternoon a few years ago when several of the Apex Coaching crew and I were finishing up a monster day of training. We were scattered around Breeze's living room all in that state of post-training grogginess that only happens when you are truly smashed. The topic of nutrition came up and we began discussing with Breeze what were eating out on the bike and throughout the day of training. Most of us were far below the number of calories we needed for a day like that and we all admitted it was because we couldn't force ourselves to get down another mushy, sugary, bland energy bar despite knowing we needed the calories. After that, Breeze began making home-made bars for the crew that we termed "Breeze Bars". Breeze asked us about what kind of textures, flavors, and ingredients we craved out there mid-workou and then used her MS RD knowledge to create well balanced, great tasting bars that provided quick and sustainable energy to keep us going even through our longest training days.
