About KP

I'm a native Colorado girl and I love living, training, and working here in Boulder.  I grew up just a few miles south in Littleton, Colorado and spent most of my time doing anything sports related but mostly swimming.  I started swimming competitively at age 7 under GTS head coach Jorge Fernandez and continued on into college.  I swam NCAA Division I at The University of the Pacific, CA and later transferred to University of Colorado, Boulder to finish up my degrees in Molecular Biology and Neurology.  It was here in Boulder where I discovered triathlon and fell in love with the sport.  I began racing triathlons in 2008, qualified for my professional license, and started my first pro season in 2009.  With the help of my coach Grant Holicky, I’ve been climbing my way up the pro ranks in Olympic distance non-drafting races and will continue at this distance as well as moving up to 70.3’s in 2013.

In 2012 I was lucky enough to be selected as one of sex women to ride the entire Tour de France as part of the RĂ©ve Tour.  Our team of women road every stage one day ahead of the men's pro peloton.  Our goal was to raise money for Bikes Belong and to inspire more women to get out the door and go after their dreams.  Through this experience I found my passion for advocacy through bicycling and have continued working with organizations like World Bicycle Relief and Bikes Belong to help change lives through the power of bicycles.

Favorite Quote: "Success is not achieved by winning all the time. Real success comes when we rise after we fall. Some mountains are higher than others. Some roads steeper than the next. There are hardships and setbacks but you cannot let them stop you. Even on the steepest road you must not turn back".
